Astros Lose to the Cards – 3-2

The Cards pitching kept the Astros offense at bay and Oswalt allowed 3 runs off 5 hits. Manager Cecil Cooper says the problem in St. Louis is that the Astros just don’t score enough. Out of 6 games in St. Louis the Astros have only managed about 16 runs. Ty Wigginton agrees and thinks a leadoff hitter would go a long way to winning the series with the Cards. Both of the runs on 5-30 were solo home runs so a runner on base would have at least tied the game.

You can’t discount the pitching arm of Kyle Lohse who kept the Astros from scoring more. He kept the ball in the strike zone all night and just changed up the speed to make it difficult to hit. The Astros went in the hole in the 1st inning and just never recovered.
